Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Announces Endorsements in

Congressional And State Legislative Races

Milwaukee – The Wisconsin State AFL-CIO today announced their endorsements in key races around the state:

 

            U.S. Congress:

            2nd Congressional Dist:  Cong. Tammy Baldwin

            4th Congressional Dist.:  Cong. Gwen Moore

            5th Congressional Dist.:  No Endorsement

            6th Congressional Dist.:  No Endorsement

            7th Congressional Dist.:  Cong. Dave Obey

            8th Congressional Dist.:  Cong. Steve Kagen

 

            State Senate:

            12th State Senate Dist.:  Sen. Roger Breske

            22nd State Senate Dist.:  Sen. Bob Wirch

            30th State Senate Dist.:  Sen. Dave Hansen

 

            State Assembly:

            37th State Assembly Dist.:  Rep. Andy Jorgensen

            43rd State Assembly Dist.:  Rep. Kim Hixson

            62nd State Assembly Dist.:  Rep. Cory Mason

 

“After carefully reviewing the candidates’ records, the Wisconsin AFL-CIO believes these candidates are the best choice for Wisconsin’s working families,” said President David Newby.  “We are planning an aggressive member-to-member education and mobilization program this fall, and the sooner we can get information out on where these candidates stand on our issues versus their opponents, the better,” Newby stated. 

 

Further candidate endorsements will be made in late July/early August after local bodies have had a chance to interview all qualifying candidates and forward their endorsement recommendations to the State AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education.

 

As the statewide coordinating council for AFL-CIO and affiliated Change to Win unions in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO determines union policy on state issues, speaks for working men and women on matters of public concern, provides services to local unions, and coordinates political and legislative action with its over 1,000 affiliated unions which represent over 250,000 members in the state.
