Why Join The Labor Council

Join The Waukesha County Labor Council

Over 15 labor unions throughout the Waukesha County area have joined the Waukesha County Labor Council (WCLC) and more are joining each year.  This council has been active since 1959.  An interesting fact is Waukesha is the 3rd largest county by population in WI.   The Council can be a great resource to any union seeking to increase their visibility in the county, organize, pursue their interests on the municipal or state levels, or have a better connection to other area unions and the labor movement as a whole.

Through our affiliation with the AFL-CIO, the WCLC is directly connected to the national and state agendas, playing an active role in the voice of organized labor.  It is a voice that could and should include every union in the Waukesha area.  Our motto is: “We are the people in the community giving back to the community”. For the last several years we have reported over 1000 volunteer hours in our community.

The Council is also connected to several large unions in the area not currently affiliated with the National AFL-CIO.  We are open to bringing new voices and resources to our council.

Something unique to this labor council is we have our own $1,000 scholarship.  Affiliated locals (their full membership including retirees) have access to apply for this scholarship regardless of where they live.

Some benefits that your local will gain from joining the Waukesha County Labor Council include:

  • A broader understanding of the labor movement's goals and initiative
  • Help with new union organizing
  • Support in campaigns
  • The opportunity to be apart of community service volunteer opportunities
  • Access to the yearly $1,000 Scholarship
  • The opportunity for your local to have exposure in the WCLC Booth at Waukesha County Fair.
  • Your own delegates to vote on the WCLC's actions and decisions
  • The chance to hear from candidates running for election in Waukesha County

Rights and Protections for All Working Families

Millions of undocumented immigrants, who are vital to our economic recovery, still live in fear because of our outdated and inhumane immigration system. It’s time to put an end to this injustice. Tell your senators to pass a budget that includes a broad pathway to citizenship.
