Most significant step Congress has taken to strengthen labor laws in the United States in 85 years is a win for workers everywhere

Wisconsin AFL-CIO President Stephanie Bloomingdale on the House passage of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act (H.R. 2474):

“The House has taken a momentous step forward in helping working people get ahead in today’s rigged economy by passing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, H.R. 2474. This bill is the most significant step Congress has taken to strengthen labor laws in the United States in 85 years. It is a win for workers everywhere.

America’s labor laws are outdated, broken, and are no longer an effective means for working people to freely express our rights to collectively bargain together as a team. The long overdue PRO Act will provide significant protections for workers exercising our legal right to form a union, a right that’s been eroding for decades as highly paid union-busting consultants and anti-worker politicians chip away at worker rights.

Thank you to Representative Gwen Moore, Representative Mark Pocan, and Representative Ron Kind for standing with working people and voting to pass the PRO Act. Working people will be watching as the PRO Act advances to the Senate. America’s workers are hungry for fairness in our economy and know that strengthening the freedom to join a union is the best way to bring balance to our lives and to our economy.”
