On April 7, 2020, hundreds of local and municipal seats, many important referendums, and a statewide seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court are up for election. The Wisconsin AFL-CIO has endorsed Judge Jill Karofsky for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Local labor councils have made endorsements around the state.

The Wisconsin AFL-CIO released the following statement on the announcement that Gov. Evers will urge the Wisconsin legislature to repeal the one-week waiting period for workers to collect unemployment and that the Governor intends to issue an executive order tomorrow, March 18, modifying work and work search requirements for those facing unemployment in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

With the State of Emergency surrounding COVID-19 Wisconsinites should be prepared to vote In-Person or Early in the Spring Election

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, and to protect the health and safety of our members and our communities, the Wisconsin AFL-CIO has temporarily shifted away from door-to-door canvassing and in-person phone banks. Instead, we will be utilizing virtual phone banks as well as other traditional communication tools to turn out the union vote on April 7.

MARCH 12, 2020 -- In light of the developments surrounding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the public health emergency in Wisconsin, we will be temporarily shifting away from in-person phone banks and door-to-door operations. Instead, we will be conducting virtual phone banks in addition to our traditional communication tools to reach union members regarding the upcoming Spring Election on April 7, 2020.

(MILWAUKEE, WI, MARCH 12, 2020, 11:45 AM) -- Today, Governor Evers has called for a State of Emergency due to the Coronavirus. We have directly communicated with the Governor’s Office and let him know that the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO and the entire labor movement stands ready to respond and assist to this emergency in any way possible.

Statement by Wisconsin State AFL-CIO President Stephanie Bloomingdale on the Molson Coors Miller Brewery Tragedy

Today’s workplace shooting at Miller Coors Brewery is a terrible tragedy and our hearts are heavy with sorrow for all the workers and their families impacted by this senseless act of violence.

Every working man and woman who goes into work each day should be able to go home to their loved ones and their family members at the end of each and every shift, safe and sound.
